Tiara Ramos, LMFT

Therapist

Hello ladies! My name is Tiara Ramos and I am a bilingual (Spanish), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with women who have experienced traumatic events and are wanting to gain understanding and clarity to help live more fulfilling lives.

Let’s Dance!

Balance is key! I view therapy and the process of change as an intricate dance. People come in with their moves, might step on a few toes as they are learning new techniques, until they are fully capable of doing the cha cha all on their own! I get so much pleasure and excitement from joining women on this journey. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing women process their experiences, make sense of their past, and gain a sense of control and balance in their lives. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a woman riddled with shame and guilt, learn to love and accept herself, thus enriching her life and the lives of those around her.

My Therapeutic Approach

It is your expertise on your life and experiences that add to the richness of therapy. The majority of growth and transformation often occur when there is synergy between the therapist and client. In my experience as a therapist, the leading factor contributing to my efficacy with my clients is being able to see the best in them, even when that may be difficult for them to do. When clients come to therapy exposing their vulnerabilities, what usually transpires are concealed strengths and creativity in handling some of life’s challenges. I believe that filtering a client’s vulnerabilities through this respectful and appreciative lens is often times what creates a safe and non-judgmental space. I am a firm believer that in order to outgrow old patterns and behaviors, and to move forward courageously, it can be beneficial and uplifting to develop a genuine appreciation for how these behaviors have been helpful in the past. In doing so, many people come to see their “problems” or “weaknesses” as strengths. The methods I most commonly use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy including Trauma Focused, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused and Narrative Therapy.

Professional Experience

Throughout the past six years, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of people both in inpatient and outpatient settings. I have had the pleasure of working side by side with people overcoming depression, anxiety, resolving traumas, navigating relationships, and creating balance within the family.

Just for Fun

I am a true comfort seeker. I love comfy shoes, comfy clothes, and cuddling with a comfy blanket. Although, these past few years, I’ve been pleasantly surprised when I have stepped out of my comfort zones. But then again, life is all about taking chances and letting the pieces fall where they may.
